I graduated from Sunset School of Biblical Studies in Lubbock, Texas in 1986. Upon graduation, my family came back to Huntington Beach, California and started a new church with five other Sunset graduates and their families. Each one of us rotated the preaching and teaching while working full-time secular jobs. This work lasted 7 years. In 1995 we moved to Mission Viejo and started attending the Mission Viejo Church of Christ were I served as a deacon for five years and worked with the youth of the congregation. In 2000 Jackie and I moved to Murrieta, California and started serving with the Murrieta Church of Christ as a deacon and in 2006 I started as the Associate Minister. I have overseen and lead several ministries while at Murrieta, such as the Celebrate Recovery Minister, which is a 12 step Christ-Centered program. I have also directed the churches’ small group bible studies, evangelism, missions and benevolence ministries.
I have taken two mission trips, one in 2008 to the city of Cebu in the Philippine where I taught a 3 day seminar on “Encounters with Christ” through the book of Mark. Then in 2009 I went to Cape Haitian, Haiti to help with medical support and visit the school of preaching. Jackie and I are looking forward to serving at the Costa Mesa Church of Christ. We feel God has called us to Costa Mesa to preach and serve at the Costa Mesa church.
If I was to give my mission statement that I feel God has placed on my heart it would be; “To love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and to love others.” Jesus say’s this sums up all that is written in the law and prophets.
My vision is that we as a family of God (The Church) will fall in love with God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. We,as His children, will embrace His love and grace that He has given to each of us through His Son Jesus and then go and reflect that love to each other, to His church, to our community and to a world that does not know Him. We want to be the hands, feet and voice of Jesus. My vision also includes that we will be the church that God has called His people to be. We don’t want to play church (go through the motions, be an organization or institution) but rather that our lives reflect Jesus. We want to be a place of healing to those who have been hurt in the past by “Church” and who have just been hurt by others. May we be the gospel!
